I put them on almost a year ago and wish I hadn't waited so long! I always drive when there's no snow on the ground, and I usually drive to and from work on the freeway (38 miles one way). The cold on my hands kept me from skating until I got it. Installation was a mid-level job, and unless you're working on your own stuff, you should probably outsource that to someone else. I just added a relay and fuse with extra wire to install this on my Vstar. I reused the original grips with this kit. There is a difference between high and low, but both were too hot for me to use all the time except on the coldest days. I typically use high heat to warm up the grips faster, then switch to a lower setting until my gloved hands start to sweat, then just turn it off and back on for a few minutes. I still wear gloves to protect my fingers from the cold air, but if I had a fairing to keep out the wind, I wouldn't need gloves. The only thing I want to change now is to install a switch with different colored LEDs so I can see if the heater is on and in what position.
