Losing a star for not specifically stating that it is only suitable for boiling WATER. If it had been clearly stated in the product title/direct description and perhaps not otherwise implied I would have given it 5 stars. Here's why: as long as it's just water and you never fill it past the 'max fill line', it's perfect. When I brewed and warmed up the cold tea again (only tea + sweetener, no milk, the original water for the tea was boiled in the same kettle, perfect, clean and fast), the tea "exploded” all over my body. desktop, and most of it boiled away. I think the auto shut off is based on the amount of vapor and is calibrated for pure water - I'm pretty sure different mixes produce different amounts of vapor (not to mention different boiling points - if the calibration is based on temperature). also - and even if it's still basically the same water, having coffee or tea in it changes those things). This is a warning. Now why I like it so much and why it costs about $10 more than some of the "base" models. I have blue, it's a beautiful light sky blue in pastel shades. Bright and conforms to the product photo, as shown in the photo; If anything, it looks even better in person. It is aesthetically very pleasing. And - it's a strong, smooth, seamless stainless steel interior, encased in high quality plastic with a minimum of seams. This is a good solid construction. Pleasant to the touch and comfortable to the touch, heavy not flimsy. ("Heavy" in a good way, since you don't want a travel kettle to weigh any more than it should when you're actually putting it in your suitcase. In that sense, how it's constructed with no sharp parts that could become snag on anything like thin clothing, as well as a smooth, easy to wash and dry interior that allows you to easily store things like multiple pairs of underwear or stockings, or even your small toiletries - perfect for minimizing your bag space and packing to maximize potential. Comes with a nice and soft velvet travel case.) I've already mentioned that it's surprisingly compact, when in fact it does have the ability to heat the advertised amount of water (0.5L, which is more than enough). / to boil fill my 16 ounce teacup). Takes up minimal counter/table space. The cord doesn't twist or tangle either: it's designed so the base lays flat on the table/countertop (I forgot to take a photo of the inside, I'll try to add it later). Cord long enough to plug into an outlet in the middle of the wall when the kettle is on the table. That's 3 feet (like I said, I didn't measure but it looks/feels accurate). There is no extra cable volume. (At the same time, if the outlet is not near the table, you need to change its position a little.) It will turn off automatically when the water boils. It's a manual switch that you have to press with your finger - it turns off just as easily as it turns on if you want to turn it off before the water boils. And the switch is in an easily accessible, highly visible and intuitive place, unlike some kettles. might work with something similar if you have something that keeps your outlet *off*, i.e. gracefully interrupting the electrical current going to the outlet/switch until your smart home setup turns that outlet on A: It's manual pre-installed This kettle "turns on" every time. Obviously it stays filled with water. I haven't had a chance to test what happens when this kettle is turned on with no water inside. Over time I'll think about doing this, and when I do I'll add that information to this review.) The point is that it depends on how you set up your smart home. settings, there's no reason this couldn't be set up in the evenings (or any other time) to boil water for you etc at any time you set remotely. This device itself is *not* a smart one though Device. This is a simple, no-frills manual kettle. There is (oddly enough) nothing superfluous in this teapot. These are: (1) a compact boiler body with a durable stainless steel interior; (2) a lid for the kettle that fits snugly and securely, and is also fully removable and separates from the kettle body - it's not hinged; (3) Switches, intuitively located, easy to access and easy to press; (4) Indicator light, which is not that bright, especially in a sunlit/well-lit room, but it is enough to know that the kettle is on. You may have to shade him by hand if you have trouble distinguishing such things, or he may be under direct sunlight. (5) teapot base; (6) 3 inch cable; if you wish to include tech and/or everything that comprises the kettle and its accessories, excluding packaging materials, and then (7) a velvet travel bag for storing/transporting the kettle. This is the perfect travel/compact stove that brings water quickly and safely. , and *just* bring it to a boil. I'm considering getting another one for my kitchen (I have a tiny kitchen and my cat and I don't drink anything with hot water ^_^*). The one I bought was for my office so I could sit back and make tea without having to get up from my desk all day.
