The basket has a beautiful quality design. Better than expected. The bottom is fluffy and soft. This basket is smoother than some other baskets. I also like that the basket is a bit lower at the front. Perfect for showing my little 5 pound poodle nugget from the front. Depth (front to back) is good too. I put my other 7.5 lb dog in there and it fit her perfectly. I can't imagine putting a very large dog there. I could say, depending on the shape, the maximum 10 pounds I would put in. On the other hand, a tighter fit means they're less lying around. The basket itself seems very strong and durable, but the straps that attach it to the basket feel a bit jerky. It doesn't seem very safe at all. Another reason I probably wouldn't want to put a large (12 lb) dog in it. This is perfect for my little kids because they don't put too much strain on the straps. But after installing everything and securing it to the bike, I was a bit concerned at first that it wasn't super secure. There is a leash that attaches to the dog harness, but it starts at the top of the basket. I wish it would start at the bottom of the basket so I can restrain my dogs a little more so they don't jump up and down.
