Review on Dutton Lainson SA5000 Electric Winch by Rick Everett

Great Winch in Power Winches

The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because it doesn't fit what I would consider a standard winch mount (for a boat the size of my - 1200 pounds, 17 aluminum trackers) . I visited two nearby boat trailer parts stores and the winch frames they sold were the same size or much larger. The winch was too close to the winch leg to fit between the pulley arm and the base of the winch mount base. So I went to a company that sold steel pipe, bought a foot of 1/8" 2x4 rectangular steel pipe and paid for an extra cut to get a 5" and a 7" piece for spacers. Then I did the steel tubing primed and spray painted Dutton-Laison may sell an adapter to mount the winch on a bracket but I couldn't determine which one would fit Cut the winch power cable in the trunk and install an Anderson Powerpole quick connector ( 120A) (see link) so I can connect the power cord to a battery or other 70A source to run the winch when not attached to the vehicle. Use an emergency handle but I've found that this is a lot easier. I have an Anderson Powerpole quick disconnect for my bow mounted trolling motor and therefore I can connect the winch power cable to the Boo for maintenance if needed connect tes.
