I love, love, LOVE the Garmin 1030, but I love every beautiful relationship. But be prepared for a very bumpy start if you plan to pair it with an iPhone! Yes, I've looked at all the other supposed 'solutions' to fix Bluetooth pairing issues (disable Wi-Fi, reboot, etc.) and all I can suggest is - good luck! If you are a very, very persistent and stubborn person who NEVER GIVES UP, you will eventually achieve mating. but don't expect it to happen in an hour-long slugout session. All I can offer is to eventually realize that doing the same things over and over is sure to resolve your pain as a couple. For some reason Garmin insists on using the old Bluetooth standards, so you'll have to get more draconian to get your suction cup working - think BOLD! Reset your Garmin 1030, uninstall the Garmin Connect app, etc. (just unpair/remove the device from any app, play around with Wi-Fi on/off, etc., it probably won't make much of a difference) . Finally, once you get the Bluetooth pairing you want, you will have a happy relationship and from that point on, pairing the 1030 with HRM, Varia RADAR, etc. was a breeze.
