Bluetooth connecting/pairing is different than what you might expect

I almost returned it because there isn't much documentation on the connection process and it's not what you might expect. Put simply, if the device asks for a PIN code, then you're doing it wrong. The app automatically connects to the device. Follow these steps to connect: - Download and install the app as instructed. - Turn on Bluetooth on your device. Don't connect, just turn on. - Open the app - Select the settings menu with 3 bars in the top right corner - Select "Change device" - Turn on "Hcitool Scan". For some reason location permissions are required and you have to agree to use the device. . I reluctantly agreed. The app will scan and list nearby devices, select "BT5.0 Grill". That's all. You should now be connected. The wireless indicator shows the signal strength as confirmation, or it shows a "No connection" message. The range was pretty good as the device was 40 feet from my house and I could see its status while I was in the kitchen. I lost signal about 15-20 feet inside. Remember that the sensors are light gray and inactive until you connect them. The device automatically detects which ports are occupied. and a clinical thermometer. The connection will be reestablished automatically as soon as it is in range again. If the connection is not restored, you may need to turn the thermometer off and on again, or turn the Bluetooth radio off and on again. The device will reset your temperature settings applied to each sensor when you turn it off. So use this as a last resort if it doesn't reconnect and make sure you reset your target temperatures. I was able to connect to Samsung S8 and iPhone4. Smoking Tip: Use a probe to set the range from 200 to 280 and don't insert it into the meat, leave it open in the smokehouse but don't touch anything. This alerts you when the temperature is out of range and prevents overcooking or undercooking. Nobody wants to get sick from bad smoking. Overall this is a great modern cooking tool. I found the device's temperature readings to be accurate, and its $50 price tag makes it a good choice for a 6-probe sensor. I definitely recommend it for those who want to have a good time while cooking. It was nice to remember that my smoker's temperature was never outside of my target range while taking a few minutes to enjoy my time with friends and family while smoking.
