Media could not be loaded. This was my first experience with Instant Install 29 (or any epoxy) and I used it to repair two raised edges on a granite countertop. I have experience in general building repair and maintenance, as well as fine carpentry and carpentry work, but had never worked with stone before. I've never used epoxy or worked with granite so I did a lot of research before finally settling on Instant Install 29. My research led me to tutorial videos that convinced me this was the product I needed. I ordered Instant Install 29 from Epox-Sci. Lab Manufacturer Rep by Revane Prime. The product arrived quickly, was well packaged and as described. REPAIR ADVENTES planned a work project in advance and used a written checklist. I followed my checklist throughout the process as follows: Prepare the area by removing all non-project related items. 1) Lay out plastic garbage bags and newspaper to protect all surfaces (including the wooden floor from the expected dripping of epoxy due to the extrusion of the yoke); 2) Before applying, gather your tools (including a disposable plastic bowl and wooden stick for mixing epoxy, disposable gloves, and a razor blade scraper for cleaning). 3) Peel off the 3" tape and pre-apply it to the countertop to hold the edge pieces in place after they are epoxy bonded and in place. 4) Put on nitrile gloves. 5) Mix the product. (You have a very generous 15 minute window to apply the epoxy to the surface, set the part in place and fix/stabilize it). 5) Apply epoxy to the cut edges. 6) Align surfaces and adjust if necessary. 7) Apply the prepared masking tape to the edge surfaces to secure the parts. 8) Tighten rod clamps, just in case. Don't overdo it! 9) Remove and discard gloves. 10) Wait 29 minutes as needed (in my case I waited an hour). 11) Remove clips and tape. 12) Remove excess epoxy with a razor blade as instructed. these lids will be sticky. Wear gloves before opening the jars. Also, be prepared for the smell of the product. It's not the best you can do. will ever smell. YMMVT TWO IMPORTANT NOTES: 1) Resist the temptation to delete or otherwise delete Instant Install 29 until it is installed. Follow the manufacturer's use and cleaning instructions. After the set time of 29 minutes, cleaning the blade becomes child's play. Do not attempt to remove/wipe or otherwise clean the product before it has set or you will end up with a sticky mess that is much more difficult to remove. 2) Don't put off cleaning/pruning. After 24 hours the product becomes harder than stone and requires serious effort to remove. 2/4/19 I have used this product twice already. The attached video shows the second repair. No tape was used on the second repair. YMMV but I recommend this tape and will use again if needed. The actual repair couldn't be easier and I will order them again if I ever need a granite repair.
