Review on Enhance Cognitive Skills with Melissa & Doug Animals Wooden Puzzles by Steven Stager

There are better alternatives!

I like Melissa and Doug's products, but these puzzles are no winners. My experience with my two toddlers who had them was that puzzles did not capture their attention around the age of 1 and by the time the fine motor and cognitive development skills in these puzzles were developed they were too boring. Instead, choose an alphabet, number, or shape puzzle so you can teach them ABC, counting, shape recognition, and color recognition (since virtually all puzzle pieces have colors for identification). They're also bulky and don't store well together. other puzzles. First off, however, they don't participate in any of Stages 1 through 3, so invest your money elsewhere in toys. If you already have number, letter and shape puzzles, try the apple and worm carving toy! Amazing fine motor skills to travel with so easily and consistently held my toddlers attention at all stages.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
