I bought this product because I was tired of constantly buying plastic and got frustrated about a month later when the damn thing broke. So I bought that. I must first say that I am a 26 year old male, so not a frail elderly person. I have to warn anyone using this product to be careful as it will cut your finger. On that first orange, I cut my index finger three times on a metal edge. Now I understand that between your hands and the metal there should be a towel or something because it's damn sharp! Aside from the sharp edges, I've run it through the top rack of my dishwasher and it has a slight haze so be careful if you run it through the dishwasher like most people do.
