Review on Wera 05032005001 Kraftform Stainless Screwdriver by James Duffield

Wera screwdrivers are my favorites. I'm considering a stainless steel flathead, laser tip, 6.5mm head and 6" blade length (150mm). Phillips sockets are versatile but flat head screwdrivers may need to be converted. For example 6.5mm = 1/4". Please note that this is a screwdriver with a small rounded tip and not a cabinet tip although this one Screwdriver easily fits fasteners such as those on 1/4" wall panels. One of the reasons I chose the stainless steel version for this driver is that the handle is a different color (black and white instead of black and green) so I can easily identify it, however there are easy to read markings on the top (end) of the handle to tell the difference between flat and Phillips screwdrivers. I really like the fit and feel of the handles, and they've proven to be sturdy enough, at least for my use, which often involves home repairs and maintenance - often enough that I'd like to have professional-quality hand tools that I could get to . If you are a DIY enthusiast (automotive, small engine repair, lightweight construction, etc.), the Wera Schiesel screwdriver tool range may be more suitable for you. If you read specialist forums on the Internet, Wera becomes the favorite of electrical professionals. Many are swapping the iconic small screwdrivers that electricians have favored for decades for German brands like Wera, Wiha and Felo because the tips last longer under heavy daily use and the handles are more comfortable. You tend to pay more for these imported screwdrivers, but you can often snag them on sale, and they're quite cheap if you want or need that level of quality. The "laser tips" are unique at Wera. Grooves REALLY increase the grip of the buckle and you can find many demos online showing this. Note that many pros note that grooves can wear out after heavy use. But even if the laser grooves wear out, the tips stay tight on the clasps and last a long time. Perhaps the laser grooves on the stainless steel version of this driver will last longer. Only time will tell and maybe I'll update this review once I use it more often. If the country of origin (COO) is important to your purchasing decision, please note that Wera is a German company and its hand tools are developed there. However, most of their tools (including screwdrivers) are made in the Czech Republic. I also have Wera, Felo, Wiha, Klein and Snap-On screwdrivers and the Wera quality is on par with all those genuine German and American products IMO. Of all the Wera products I have purchased they have very tight manufacturing tolerances and excellent quality control. Highly recommended!
