I love reviewing gadgets. If you want more in-depth reviews, visit my YouTube channel OndaWire where I talk about the pros and cons of everything I test. I was trying to add an additional monitor and came across this StarTech Thunderbolt 3 DP 1.4 Dual Display Adapter that I wanted to try. Pros: 1. I always turn to StarTech for adapters and other equipment. They become familiar to me because their products are just so good. This adapter does exactly what it does. I am using a 2019 16" MacBook Pro and it works great. I also use a Dell laptop for work and it works great with it. ***This does not work on the new 2020 MacBook with M1 chip*** Unfortunately have it prevents almost all dual monitor display docks/adapters due to the M1 chip and Apple that's what I really dislike about Apple products sometimes as they try to make you buy everything what Apple is which is mostly just overpriced products.I'm sure this will be fixed soon with many adapters/docks.2.The picture quality with this adapter is crisp and clear.I think a lot of people have a misunderstanding: you think that if you buy an adapter that displays 4K/5K or 8K, the adapter will automatically turn your computer/graphics card into a 4K/5K/or 8K machine, it will NOT.If your graphics card or computer doesn't display 4K /5K or 8K resolution supported provides you this adapter these not. Your computer/graphics card must support 4K/5K/8K resolution. If your computer does not render on these displays, it displays the video at the maximum your computer can handle and is backwards compatible to meet your computer's specifications.3. Thank you for adding the long Thunderbolt 3 cable to this adapter. My MacBook Pro has 4 USB-C ports so I can connect it from either side. My work laptop, a Dell PC, only has one Thunderbolt 3 port on the left side, so I now have no problem connecting it to the left or right side. Overall, I award 5 ***** stars. Valuation! This adapter is great when you need two monitors in Extended or Mirror mode. If you have a new MacBook with an M1 chip, this will not currently work for that particular device. I'm pretty sure there will be a workaround soon, but then again, Apple does NOT allow ANY (not just this) adapter/docking station to display dual monitors with the new MacBook with the M1 chip. If you're looking for a clean dual display adapter that will work on anything other than the new MacBook with the M1 chip, then you should definitely get this one. I highly recommend it!
