Review on Detoxify And Clear Your Skin: Acure'S Charcoal Lemonade Cleansing Clay - Ideal For Oily To Normal & Acne Prone Skin by Jeff Keegan

Not for very dry skin, not a true cream cleanser

I purchased this based on a beauty blog's recommendation of Acure Seriously Soothing Cleansing Cream as being a great option for dry skin. I suppose "dry" can be relative. I assumed it would be a creamy, non-lathering, non-foaming cleanser. I was wrong. I'm not a chemist, so I'm not sure which ingredient(s) in the product produce the foam, but I'm in search of milky cleanser free of bubbles when applied or rubbed in the hands. This is not that. When you rub it together in your hands, a rich, creamy foam develops. For someone with normal skin or only slightly dry skin, this might work fine. But my skin is very dry. This left my face feeling tight and I had red blotches on my face for hours after using it. The fragrance isn't bad, but it also isn't my favorite. It's very floral. If you like peony and rose scent, then this might be for you. It's very reasonably priced. To give other readers some context, I'm 54 with invisible pores and very thirsty skin. I've very happily used Dermalogica's Essential Cleansing Solution for many years but they discontinued the product.

Pros
  • It's gentle enough for sensitive skin, but effective in clearing up acne
Cons
  • Results not noticeable enough
