Like several other reviewers, YouTuber Caleb brought me here. After weeks of trying, multiple returns of sprung desktop ceiling mounts. I bought it and modified it a la Caleb's video. I didn't do all the assembly. I just need a good solid desk mount for my ceiling camera. This $30 item is an elegant solution. This is solid rock. I use an iPhone most of the time, but it would easily fit a small DSLR. My BF removed the end assembly from the horizontal bracket (a bit difficult as it was very tight). I then inserted the 1/4 tripod mounting screw and adapter into the ball head. And voila. Desktop ceiling mount. Caleb drills a hole to use a standard 3/8 tripod screw. But we didn't have a fancy drill bit, so we just used a 1/4 screw and adapter. I used a $30 Artcise low profile ball head. The downside is that it's not easy to adjust the height. A hex wrench is required to move the horizontal arm up or down the post. But the whole point of this setup was having a semi-permanent mount for overhead shots in tutorial videos. so I don't vote it very often. Thanks for the great idea, Caleb DSLR Video Shooter! This is a new niche. People who want professional quality desktop mounts, not flimsy consumer junk. After the wasted hours of my life. It turned out that the solution cost $30 and 30 minutes to set up. Find out.
