Doesn't work in mechanical tester

Arrived. Nicely packaged. Good quality case. Open, battery inserted. Including power supply. It seems to turn on just fine. I started trying to listen. I connected the clip to the device and selected the desired input. He typed with a pen. Nothing. Connected to a box fan. Nothing. A 1999 Ford 7.3L diesel lit and buckled. Nothing. I tried all the other inputs while adjusting the sensitivity back and forth. Nothing. Thinking that the wiring inside might not match the markings on the outside, I tried all the port combinations versus the selection (port 1 connected and 1 selected, then 2, then 3, etc.) through all 36 possible combinations and the Sensitivity turned knob . each time back and forth. Nothing. There is an audible click in the headphones when turning on, so it wasn't a bad headphone or output jack. Tried other clips and cables on different inputs, selected those inputs and turned the sensitivity back and forth. Nothing. If you can't hear a Ford 7.3 liter diesel engine idling then you can't hear anything and you could actually be dead. Just to be sure, I used the old screwdriver method in the same place I undercut. Deafening roar of 7.3. Knocking and fan box can also be heard on the screwdriver. Returned the product.
