I bought this to extend the signal on my existing Nighthawk AC 1900 router. I put this extension cord between the router and the bedroom with the dead zone. Before installing the extender, I was able to get a signal (-73dBm) in the bedroom, but the WiFi speed was practically zero. After installing the extender, my signal improved slightly and I was able to achieve download speeds in the 14-26 Mbps range. It wasn't enough to get decent streaming on the TV. Also, the speed in my kitchen has almost halved (from 121 Mbps to 67-75 Mbps)! I configured this to repeat both 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals and also configured it with the single SSID mesh feature. Performance was better when both tracks were repeated instead of using a grid. However, this caused problems between the extender and my original router, and the phones/tablets would not stay connected; The only viable solution was to use the "EXT" SSID it would create and have FOUR separate SSIDs around the house. It just didn't work. Then I tried another three-pack (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WMLPSRL/). The speed in the bedroom jumped to 65 Mbps (from NETGEAR's 24 Mbps). The eero system cost about $30-$50 more than the NETGEAR expander at the time of purchase. For a small additional fee, I got a much more reliable/stable network and faster speeds throughout the house. Just discard the old setup and buy a new mesh system that works right out of the box.
