Review on Efficient Mini Rotary Perforator: Tonic Studios 806 in Black - Perfect for Precise Perforations by Lori Aguirre

Tiny tool that gets the job done!

From time to time at work I create tickets for events that require a perforated portion. We used to only crumple tickets where we wanted to tear them, but I saw this and thought it might be worth a try for the price. I'm very glad I did! It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be, about the size of a USB stick (I've included a few photos to show the size) but not so small that it would be difficult to handle. It folds like a pocket knife so the blade doesn't open. The tool handles a variety of media with ease and smoothness: plain tracing paper, vinyl labels, card stock, thin laser glossy media, mid-weight card stock, foam board, beautiful materials. Pretty much everything I've tried worked except for corrugated cardboard - simply because the cutting edge wasn't high enough to penetrate deep into the corrugated cardboard. Other reviews mention that it's difficult to get it working on cardboard - just work on a piece of flimsy cardboard (Priority Mailbox works well) and it will punch through even the heaviest cardboard with ease. I use a ruler to cut the rug and run the plastic edge of the cutter across the ruler for perfect precision. For regular cuts that may vary slightly, I place a ruler 1/8 inch from the line I'm punching as a visual guide, then pull the stamp toward me. Of course, all cutting tools are designed to be pulled towards you. I've used it for 100 thick cardboard tickets and the blade is still as sharp as when I started. It is very easy to control and work in a straight line. .My only complaint would be the color - wish it was bright yellow or something, it's so tiny I'll have a hard time finding it in my tool box when I need it again in a few months.
