The mouthpiece is too small for my 8 year old. However, I like the verbal guidance, a different level of sonic vibration and a light that needs sanitizing. You need to use foam toothpaste to do this, using regular toothpaste will not work. Even when applying foam toothpaste, you must apply it from above and below. This means I need to be in control when my 8 year old is applying toothpaste or applying for him because the underside means the foam is hanging upside down and I can imagine a huge mess. I used this device first before giving it to my son. just to see if it's really clear. The bristles are made of silicone, soft, for me a soft toothbrush does not clean well, whether manual, automatic or sonic toothbrush. However, compared to my Sonicare toothbrush, I didn't have a clean and smooth feeling after brushing with this U toothbrush. I don't see how it can effectively remove plaque or food debris from crevices or between teeth. I think this toothbrush is good for occasional use but not for daily thorough brushing. It will be a good travel toothbrush. The idea is great, the toothbrush just needs to be tweaked a little for everyday use.
