My first experience with the Speakman was in a hotel. I was very happy with the shower, so I later replaced my showerhead at home with a fixed Speakman, and after that I replaced the shower at my girlfriend's apartment with the same model. I was very happy with the build quality and the overall shower experience. We have now moved into a house with a large shower and a Delta showerhead that has both a fixed part and a hose. I did a little research and decided to replace the Delta with this single derailleur Speakman model with separate heads. A box arrived consisting of three components: a fixed showerhead, a pole (complete with mounting hardware should you wish to mount it as a freestanding head) and a diverter. The fixed head and probe block are made of plastic, while the deflector is made of solid metal. The hose is also plastic and shorter than our previous Delta's hose (which appears to be much stronger, even to the point where it's overly stiff). It seems that a good hit on a tiled wall can break your head. The handstick feels uncomfortable as this model has a bulge on the back (other models don't seem to bulge as much). I went to install a deflector and I couldn't get it to stay level. It sounds like you'll have to rotate the main diverter on the part that attaches to the trunnion and rely on the rubber grommet to prevent leakage. But I think when I did it was leaking and there is nothing to hold the retraction in place so hitting it could easily cause it to curl up again. The outlet also has an Allen screw, which the instructions don't say, and water. flows from this screw. I've never been able to stop the licking and have even removed the head to the point where I can't even get the screw out. The main header is wrong. The hose for the hand block has a non-return valve and a label indicating which side it enters the water supply (the diverter in this case). Unfortunately, as soon as you select the hand block on the diverter, water starts pouring out of the hose on the diverter. I removed the check valve (it's just a small plastic plug) quite accidentally (I tried reconnecting the hose to see if maybe I connected it the other way around - the valve just popped out), but even then it still leaked . I installed the faucet with all flow restrictors installed and our house pressure is low (our house's plumbing has a flow restrictor) so pressure shouldn't be an issue here. I tried installing a pipe block. straight to the spigot and I haven't had any leaks so it has something to do with the switch. Could it be that the water flowing through the narrow opening of the diverter is causing the water pressure at the hose connection to become too high? You might think that since these devices are sold as a kit, they are designed to work together. but it didn't work for me. I think I'm the only one who posted about the problem, so maybe I had a faulty device? I like it because I'm tall (6ft 3in). You can take this into account when purchasing. I think due to the issues I'm having and the rather large overall length, next time I'll just grab a standalone wearable and get one that doesn't have a bulge in the back.
