Review on Osprey Dyna 15 Women's Hydration Vest for Running by Richard Counts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally THIS IS MY RUNNING SET!

I was trying to find a good backpack for running and first bought another one (Innov-8 All Terrain Pro Vest 15L) which I really like tried like and just didn't love. I finally got that back and this one and HALLELUJAH! This one did everything I wanted and I'm so glad I didn't settle for less. Unbelievable things: - Compression straps to keep your load close to your body - a must for me - Shoulder straps should be wide enough not to dig in anywhere but hold tight - A couple of separate compartments (bladder pocket closest to on the back, one large main pocket, a small one at the top with mesh dividers, two zippered pockets on the waist belt, several hidden pockets on the shoulder straps including 1 with zipper, and those weird but cool side pockets with zippers (zip and zip). I LOVE THE POSSIBILITIES! - Seriously, this pack barely bounces. I'm not going to lie and say zero rebound, but it's barely noticeable. Even booting up my work tablet it's pretty good and it's an accomplishment! - Sufficiently spacious, but compact enough. A work tablet, a change of work clothes, thin shoes and a badge/mobile phone are fine with me. I could squeeze in more if I really wanted to. However, when I have fewer of them (e.g. just a few clothes), they contract just enough not to feel "baggy". I was adamant about the waist belt. It's almost unnecessary if you tighten the shoulder straps enough, but it helps. I REALLY buckle the shoulder straps and then buckle the "waist belt" slightly around the lower chest. You can loosen the shoulder straps to make it sit lower. SUPER ADJUSTABLE CHEST STRAP! I like that there are two of them. And the ability to adjust their height is great. (In my last pack, the chest strap was so high it almost felt like it was suffocating me—this one does NOT suffocate.) I'm 5ft 8", 140lbs, have a small chest and need SM/MI on will. Pretty tight at the bottom, just an inch or two to tighten further. If I was a little smaller I would definitely need an XS.

Pros
  • Extra large double stretch mesh bottle/phone/grocery belt pocket
Cons
  • Some difficulties
