I upgraded to an i5 4590 from my previous stalwart core 2 duo e6750, and the improvement is phenomenal. In comparison, the frame rate increased from 20 to 30 on c2d + oven650 in three battles at medium settings without anti-aliasing, with frequent drawdowns up to 15 or 18 frames, to 40 to 55 on 4590+pech650 at ultra without anti-aliasing (resolution 1600 by 900), depending on the card. Under load (battle 3, chrome with a bunch of tabs, broadcast on twitch, all sorts of programs in the background and torrent), the average temperature was 44–45 degrees Celsius (in hwmonitor, the maximum speed was fixed at 48 degrees Celsius on one of the cores, but this only lasted a fraction of a second). It's well worth the cost (I sold my k2d for 14k when they first came out), and the return on investment is 5 times that amount.
