My drinking system was military overkill. Maritime problem I think. It was new when I got it but the bite valve it came with kept leaking. It was kind of a weird twist and then shit. Unnecessarily complex junk. I finally cut that piece of junk off and replaced it with a camelback on-off valve and this bite valve. 100% better.
