Review on Enhanced SIIG 1-Port USB Over IP (ID-DS0611-S1) by Manny Darawi

It works fine, I can connect it to my computer as if it was directly connected via USB. I don't like to give a product 3 stars, but it doesn't live up to my expectations. I tried connecting a USB webcam to it but the computer doesn't display any video at all so the webcam doesn't work. Tried with a 2TB USB hard drive, works fine. One caveat: the software must be installed on any computer with a USB network adapter. It doesn't show up online at all. To connect to the device, software is used that must be installed first. So this device is not plug and play. You have to install it. The product states (on the Siig website) that the USB network adapter is compatible with the webcam; it's not like this. This rating could be anything: 3 stars or 4 stars, but the point is I bought another Siig device from my local Fry's electronics store, an Expresscard desktop adapter. The expresscard adapter was supposed to work with both expresscard/32 and expresscard/54 (dimensions), but only expresscard/32 worked on this device, not expresscard/54. I asked Siig tech support about another product they could recommend that works with both Expresscard/32 and Expresscard/54 (after they were unable to resolve my issue) and they never responded. I was under the impression that their technical support is unreliable. If I hadn't had this negative experience with Siig earlier I would have given this product 4 stars but I'm not really impressed with Siig products so I decided to give it 3 stars. But it's a great product: I hooked it up to a hard drive and it works like clockwork. But it's not really "plug and play". And it's not really compatible with all USB devices like a webcam (in my experience).
