So I'm a bit of an amateur when it comes to installing and replacing hardware on my desktop computer. I usually have to watch a video or videos to understand how to do it. To save someone else like me the trouble I went through, here are some tips: 1. The current backplate on your desktop needs to come out completely for the X-Bar plate to fit. It should fit perfectly. However, for a while I couldn't figure out why that doesn't fit. 2. The X-bar is great for any screw holder template on your board. You just have to squeeze the X-bar VERY hard for it to flex properly. It took me an hour to figure it out. You can position the fan base and adjust the fan assembly itself to blow from the back or from the front. From what I've read online, people usually provide the backend. You will likely need to apply thermal grease to the back of the processing unit. Rock it and eventually it will come loose. If you remove your old fan to replace it with a new one, your processor may fall off with it. In this case, be VERY careful when reattaching the processor to its base. Make sure all of those gold little pins line up and also make sure the sides fit together before snapping them back into place. Triple check. I made the mistake of not doing this the first time I removed my old fan assembly to clean it and then tried to reattach the CPU when it detached from it. I almost bent/broke some of the pins and it took forever to straighten each one with a small plastic card. Replacing a processor is expensive. Be careful.5. This fan unit feels a bit heavy, but the X-bar they give you supports it well, so don't worry about any unnecessary stress. This fan cools very well. In the summer, the room where my desk is located is very hot and difficult to keep cool. This fan is not only quiet, but also cools the case. (Note that I have a large cooler.)
