Beginning in the noon and afternoon, my front door and front door are left in the scorching sun for hours. The door gets so hot you can't even touch it (or the handle) without getting burned! I bought this film to install in a storm door to reduce heat and UV rays. Surprisingly, it blocks the heat really well and solves the problem. I was able to do the installation myself. I followed the instructions exactly and took my time. It looks shiny and reflective from the outside. Although it's muted, it's still noticeable, and I was actually hoping it would appear darker from the pavement. The functionality of this success and I will also be able to sit in the front door without watching from the outside so I can now leave the inner door open without sacrificing privacy. The jury is still out (as it looks from the outside) but the product itself is of good quality and I found it easy enough to work with. Edited a few days later: I compromised and cut off the top third of the foil (so my decorative window on the interior door is visible from the outside). The slightly reflective look is now a matter of course for me and still serves as privacy and heat protection for handles and door fronts.
