I used to be a serious ornithologist but have recently gotten into ultralight hiking and still want to carry binoculars as a luxury/heavy duty. As someone used to $650 binoculars, I was terrified of what I felt would be an inevitable drop in optical quality when I upgraded to an ultra-lightweight model. I was blown away by the optical quality of these lightweight, tiny, fogproof/waterproof binoculars. Clear image, good light capture in darker environments. Considering the price, I think anyone looking to lighten their load should buy a pair without hesitation. They don't fit or the material is too smooth. I put a small strip of tape on the inside of the rim of the lens caps and this made the friction good enough to hold them in place fairly firmly. There are no front covers. The focus knob is small and slow compared to more expensive binoculars, so it's not very handy when trying to photograph strong/fast moving birds with a lot of refocusing. I hope to test them on the Papilio series but they don't. not fog-free/waterproof (which usually also correlates with dust resistance).
