Scout approved! on Camping & Hiking

This is a review of the Kazoo brand - Tent Model: Neptune 4P. I bought this tent because my son's favorite color is yellow and he is a Boy Scout. It took about 15 minutes to assemble according to the instructions. (I think next time we put it together we can do it in less time.) They were well written and easy to understand. This tent came with a plastic mallet and 18 stakes. The "bath design" floor is higher than most tents I've used. The pole sleeves are continuous in the tent, which is very practical when setting up. Also, the sleeves and poles are color coded, which is very helpful. I like that the rainfly almost flies to the ground. The tent has two doors and two very large vestibules. Overall the tent is spacious and has plenty of brackets and will be great in the rain or strong winds. The top vents on both sides can be opened with a plastic stand that attaches with Velcro to allow airflow. I'm confused by the red bars going down the sides because they're raised / don't reach the ground - is that how it's supposed to be? I've never seen a tent like this before. There is a hole for an extension cord which is a plus! Without the rainfly, there's plenty of mesh ventilation, so this would be great in the Texas summer heat. However, when the rain cover is on, the two side vents are blocked, significantly reducing airflow. I wish those two side vents were open, as were the vents at the top of the fly. The label says it's a 3 season tent but due to the fact that the rainfly flies almost to the ground I would use it in a mild Texas winter. Overall it was good value for money and I would recommend others to buy it.
