I bought this to set up an IDS/Sniffer for my home LAN. It's in the basement next to the router and cable modem, and I used a Netgear Smart Managed Switch as a span port so I can run Snort on my network and watch for attacks. Works very well for that, but the case and fan are not very good. First off, the fan is louder than it should be, and despite being in the basement, it's really annoying and louder than all the other units below, which says a lot. I've been running without a fan for a while, but obviously temperature is an issue, even in a cool basement. I have since decided to purchase a FLIRC case and once I get it I will update this review. But that leads to the question, is this kit worth buying? no While I'm glad this kit offers the Raspberry Pi 4 B 4GB along with the extra heatsinks, case and fan, it just isn't worth the extra cost of this kit. If I had to rebuild I would just buy the Pi separately and buy a FLIRC case.
