Review on πŸŽ₯ Enhanced FLYCAM HD-3000 Handheld Video Camera Stabilizer: Quick Release Plate, Table Clamp, & 8 Lb Capacity by John Murphy

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Great alternative to the Glidecam HD-2000

CHANGE MY ORIGINAL RATING: I've changed my rating from 5 stars to 1 star. The problem I've found (which is a serious one) is that the gimbal clamp that sits around the stem of the stem that connects the grip to the stock isn't straight, flat, and square. The hanger does not lay flat on the mainshaft. This creates a big problem as I balance the camera forward and when you rotate the camera it becomes unbalanced again. You will rotate the camera all the time. I bought the Flycam HD-3000 hoping it would be as good as the Glidecam HD-2000. The price difference is okay for me. I took an online course and watched a lot of videos that taught me how to use it, so I feel like I'm getting pretty good results and getting better with each video. I've recorded 10 videos with Flycam in the last 5 months and you can watch them here to see my results: [.] I've never used a Glidecam HD-2000 but I'm interested in making one of these someday for real bumping them face to face as I now feel quite confident in my ability to plan. I've heard many people say that you should keep your rig light so you don't get tired and I prefer my rig to be as heavy as possible so it handles traffic and wind much easier. I can get smoother shots with a heavier load. I shoot with Nikon D7200, Tokina 12-24mm f/4 and Takstar Gun Mic (sometimes). I'm very happy with this product, but I can't help but wonder if the Glidecam HD-2000 is better. Pros: - Only $125 (vs. $469) - Works very well after lots of practice and patience - Fine tuning knobs are a must. Don't waste your money/time on something that doesn't have handles. Cons: - The QuickRelease page is rubbish, throw it out and buy a Manfrotto 577 - The table clamp is also useless as you won't be using it when you're on site. and it's a waste of time. Don't use it.
