The main problem was with the sensitivity. Adjusting the device requires adjusting the sensitivity quite a bit, and to do this you'll need to insert a watch screwdriver into a small hole to find an off-center 3/8" screw. However, once this is done, the device works well and detects small nails, but they are only 1/4" to 3/8" deep. I think as the description says this device is for security work only. Passes large objects well through clothing. If you use this in your shop before planing raw material then this might be fine, but if you're looking for something to find nails in sawmill logs you'll need to look elsewhere.
