First of all, this is not a universal Wi-Fi network adapter. It might work that way, but it means you're pointing at an access point hundreds of feet away that most laptops can't even see. It operates exclusively in the 2.4GHz band, so you can't access legacy 802.11a hotspots or take advantage of 802.11ac gigabit speeds. However, 802.11b/g/n works over long distances. If you want to turn your Raspberry Pi or other Linux computer into a powerful Wi-Fi client (or server), do it. No other adapter I have used can match the range or features this unit offers. The ability to enter and exit promiscuous mode without crashing the computer is a huge plus for those who use wireless networking technology. (I'm giving four stars, not five, because the drivers only work reliably on Linux or Chromebooks. Windows 10 works fine, but you don't get any additional network tools, making it an overpriced network adapter. Latest Mac OS X doesn't identify this device at all. )
