Let me tell you straight away that I have flat feet and hallux valgus on both and my feet hurt terribly in uncomfortable shoes with no support and I'm not even 30 (just um to say it's not a deformity that came with age, but I inherited all those problems). With this in mind, I continue to search for comfortable shoes that will allow me to forget about foot problems and walk without thinking about how to quickly take off these shoes. I stumbled upon Vionic as a supposedly orthopedic brand and gave these sandals a try. The size is as expected and they look really good. Fingers and valgus fit perfectly, nothing hurts. The arch is great too - lots of solid support and I have a high arch. Oh yes, that seemed promising. But now we've reached heel and it's a complete failure. After a high arch, the heel just dives and I feel like I'm stretching my calves as I walk: the heel is so reclined that it's like walking on my heels, my toes don't touch the ground. Not only the whole foot but the whole leg up to the knee feels weird because the heel is ruined. On the back of the shoe it says in big letters: designed by an orthopedist. Well, the podiatrist who designed this particular shoe should have his license revoked if he has one. All the doctors I go to keep telling me I need orthopedic shoes or at least insoles + absolutely no ballet flats. There should be at least a tiny heel so the heel of my foot is slightly higher than my toes. And it seems to be true. There is no heel support on these shoes. I also have Vionic Shore Slide sandals. These sandals feel better. They don't have a clear heel, but there's no dip in the heel either, the arch is decent and not as high as these sandals, but I can feel it. So that messed up heel is probably a feature of this specific shoe and not Vionic in general. Unfortunately I wanted to like these shoes and stopped looking but I am sending them back as they do not fit me.
