After reading some of the other reviews on here I wasn't sure if it would be value for money. Luckily I can report that it's pretty well made and most importantly works well as a USB volume control for my Windows PC. It worked right away without any setup and was recognized by Windows as "USB Multimedia Controller". You turn the knob one step (approx. 18 steps/revolution) and the volume is adjusted by 2 units. Press the button to turn off the sound. Press and turn to skip to the next track in the media player. The device itself is fairly well made, but as others have noted, the grip feels a little wobbly/less solid. I decided to take mine apart to see why (you can see the photos I took during my investigation). The encoder is solidly soldered to the PCB and also has a fairly strong mechanical connection to the housing itself. There is some play in the shaft of the rotary encoder, but I suspect the problem is that the knob is relatively large and there is a lot of force on the Can exert shaft of the encoder, and shows the game effect more clearly. The handle has a plastic core with a machined aluminum cap, therefore the connection between the handle and the shaft of the encoder may have some give or play. Good size, well made and solves my problem so I'm a happy buyer.
