At first we used a traditional swaddle blanket (with velcro) to help our newborn sleep and it worked great but at 3 weeks old our son was having trouble sleeping due to gas. The traditional swaddling was too much pressure on his stomach to keep him awake. The discomfort from the gas will cause him to "fight" to get rid of the velcro. After a few nights where the baby only slept 30 minutes to 1 hour, we tried the Love of Dreams swaddle. It works wonders! Baby can move his arms freely but not enough to wake him up and there is no pressure on his tummy. So if he's "squirming" with gas pains, the movement will help him pass gases instead of waking him up. Now he sleeps about 3 hours which is not a problem as he is only 2 days old before he is 4 weeks old. My only regret is that I don't have two of these, so we have a spare laundry day. Will definitely buy a larger size when he outgrows the small!
