I have two late teenage cats with missing teeth who have become very picky eaters. I fed them pies and Hartz Delectables, but at $1.39 for a 1.4-ounce bag, I was looking for a cheaper option. Whiskas is less than 0.50 cents for a 3 ounce bag and was worth a try. I bought chicken, beef, duck. The packets contain tasty gravy and shredded something that looks like chicken that cats will eat, or at least lick off the gravy. They also contain a red cryptic "meat" (vegetable protein) that makes up about 1/3 of the pouch that old cats don't touch. darn. So I tried feeding my barn cats, who aren't at all fussy, packets of Whiskas and they didn't eat the red mystery 'meat' either. Chickens will generally eat almost anything, but they don't eat red mystery "meat" either. Okay, so it's not cost effective if the animals don't eat it.
