The best scratching post far and wide. I'm not a fan of "carpet trees" because of the fur formation and also because my cats go through this particular material quickly. I first saw the Vesper device in a store and knew it would work for our situation. Upon arrival I noticed how heavy the flat packed pieces were. Only a small tool is required, which is provided upon installation, but taking care to ensure everything is tight will make the unit very durable. All mats are attached with Velcro so they can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement. I was skeptical of its ability to keep everything in place with those riotous cats, but the velcro top scratching post had withstood a lot of abuse and never came loose. It lasted several days with snacks and catnip. to get the cats interested, but as soon as I held it to the window, they were hooked. The top perch is still a favorite, although they haven't used sticks to scratch or a cube to hide to date, so we'll see how these specific features hold up in the long run. Overall A++++ would buy again
