Review on 🔊 Gefen Digital Audio Decoder (GTV-DD-2-AA): Crystal Clear Audio Encoding and Decoding Solution by Eddie Gordon

It works as advertised. No problems noticed, easy installation. I have an old analog stereo and my LG Plasma TV is the first TV without an analog audio output that I can send to the stereo. It has a digital audio output and this little decoder takes the digital audio from the TV (via a TOS optical link cable) and converts it to a 2 channel analog stereo signal that my old stereo can use. The old left-right RCA connectors that used to connect to my old TV's audio output now connect directly to this decoder. Appears to be the same electronics that were built into my old Sony LCD TV, giving it built in analog output capability. I was nervous about some feedback from pops or transients when using the decoder when switching. I had none. I plug it into a separate switchable power strip and leave it off until I have the choice of switches I want, then turn it on with the volume down on the TV and stereo. Since I don't often turn on the TV through the stereo, only when I'm watching a movie or a concert on TV, this extra circumstance doesn't bother me. I leave it unpowered most of the time. I'm not sure if it's necessary, but this is how I use it. Conclusion: works great easy installation, recommended.
