Review on FoodSaver Automatic Machine Express Certified by Bill Schlag

Clear up some misconceptions. This is a really good unit. Comparison of two models.

Food Saver has completely redesigned this new 5000 series, so people like me who have used Food Saver machines in the past can easily get confused; this is something else. So let's talk about the changes, what's good about it and what's a little quirky. So we're all curious about the unusual, so let's dive right in. When installing a new bag, which is very easy since the entire belly of the machine is open on both sides, you only have to insert the new roll from the left. or to the right and then pass it through the front. Luckily this only needs to be done when installing a new or different bag. Then pass it through the front to the white line. This requires a bit of gerrymandering. It's hard to get him to stay on the white line while you close the border on him. So what it takes, and it's really easy, is you lengthen it a little bit so that it sticks out a little bit forward and yes, past the white line, and then when you close the strip on it, it's right up the white line. . . It doesn't matter if it's on the white line or not, but you want it far enough from the front of the car so that when you pull down you have a center edge to pull on. . So don't worry about making it perfect. Once you figure that out with a fresh bun, all you do is overwhelm it the first time and you'll be fine. It's bizarre. Everything else about the car is great. 1) Take up much less counter space thanks to the vertical design. 2) With a bag roll exit area at the bottom that handles all the initial sealing and cutting operations. do not perform the dual function of machines with a single cutting and sealing device. 3) By lifting the bag, which already has a seal on one end, into the vacuum and top seal area (yes it has a second and separate seal) you can easily see the transparent door letting you know that you have inserted it correctly with the front edge in the drip tray. 4) The big advantage is that you lift the bag with both hands, one on each side, you force the juices to sink to the bottom and the air to move up. Hold it in place and use your knuckles to squeeze either side of the vacuum bar, which is already resting on the bar as you bring the bag up against it. He immediately starts grabbing, sucking and sealing the bag. This makes it very intuitive and easy to use. 5) This way a lot less juice gets into the juice cup, which means less juice is emptied. 6) You use less bag material because you can better see how much bag is laid out. Pulling it out makes it easier for you to determine the minimum you need to seal the top since there's no flap door to deal with. (It's clear plastic so you can see straight inside.) Another improvement is that there are two settings depending on whether you're sealing the pouch with dry or liquid contents. I bought a FoodSaver Premium 2-in-1 automatic pouch maker. Vacuum System Silver FSFSSL5860-DTC that really automates everything, even the push button. I'm used to it and I really like it. This 5000 series doesn't automatically eject the bag at the push of a button, but since it stays in place after a new roll is loaded, all you have to do is reach down and pull. Open the center pull tab and pull out the perfectly sized bag. it's as simple as automatic. And since there is no need to open a door to see how deep the final vacuum and seal bag is inserted, this new 5000 series is a step down. I think once I get used to the changes it can be as fast as the automatic one, maybe even faster. The HUGE advantage of the 5000 series is that there are multiple people living in my house so you want to split usage. Food saver but you want everyone to buy and use their own bags. The 5000 series makes it a dream. The bag roll slides in and out on both sides. Let me address a major complaint that comes up when people use this machine. Some people like to be able to place a bag of groceries on the counter while working on the machine. So they complain that they have to fold books to get them 3 or 4 inches off the counter top when in reality they beat the advanced and improved design of this device. because it sucks in too much juice from juicy food and fills the juice container. By lifting the bag and groceries and letting the bottom touch the counter, you allow nature to assist in the sealing process. The air rises and is sucked out first. If juices appear towards the end of the cycle, this usually keeps them to a minimum. I could see if you had to stand there and hold the bag for the entire cycle, which was an issue, but in fact the 5000 instantly closes the access door, thus holding the bag for you as it goes through the vacuum and sealing process. Once that's done, he'll release the clamp and the door for you. It's automatic. So the 5000 doesn't offer an automatic bag feeder, but rather a quick manual method that's just as efficient but also less expensive. Between that and minimal use of counter space, this is definitely a winner.
