This review is aimed primarily at those of us in the hospitality industry: this shoe is ready to go almost straight out of the box. No break-in period required. They are true to size and fit snugly on the foot. I like that they don't have laces. I hate tying my shoelaces at work and shoelaces can get pretty uncomfortable from food and liquid spills. I highly recommend spraying them with a waterproof nano protectant spray. Otherwise the liquid will pass through these shoes. The nano processing also helps to wash off dirt easily and keep your shoes clean and presentable. They also breathe very well. Shoes made of other materials can become a foot sauna. Customers and colleagues do NOT want to smell your sweaty feet, even if you can't. Tip: Use a natural foot/shoe spray with essential oils like peppermint, tea tree and rosemary. They work much better than powders and aerosol sprays. The non-slip sole is really good for them, so you can work and move in them safely. The insoles on it are really good at the beginning, but they break quickly (1-2 months). That's my only problem with these shoes. Are Skechers insoles made of gel foam and cardboard?!? You need to invest in some orthopedic insoles. You probably don't need custom fitted/molded orthotics, but don't buy orthotics for dollars either. Also, don't try to kill two birds with one stone and buy pads with odor absorbers. They will not work for fragrance or support for more than a week. I have personally been using Platinum Walkfit braces for over 10 years. This shoe lasts a year of full-time work. After about 6 months, the tissue stretches and loses its structure. I only wear them during my shift and change my shoes in the locker before/after my shift. For half the price of New Balance or other brands, you can replace them as you need them and not feel guilty. I've been a bartender for over 20 years and have been buying them for 5 years. I even keep a spare pair in the closet just in case. Today I would say that about half of the employees in my work like to wear them. It's in an upscale restaurant in a luxury hotel. Proper footwear will prevent much of the aches and pains associated with being on your feet for 8 hours straight. Hope that helps.
