Don't expect this device to be able to play 1080p HD video as it's not designed for it. It simply takes the output from the Wii's SD port and converts it into a signal that can be read by an HDMI cable. Some of the benefits are as follows: * Improved visual effects. While not HD, video quality is similar to component output for installations that don't have component cables. * Reduced latency. One of the main problems with composite cables is input lag when playing on new TVs. Unlike pure analog CRT TVs, the TV must take the original signals from the composite/component cables and convert them for correct display. Because HDMI signals don't need to be converted on the TV, the input signal is crisper and more responsive, which is especially noticeable in games like Smash Bros Brawl or Mario Kart. * Separate audio output. Exclusively for the more expensive version of the converter, which has a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you use Elgato or similar recording software, audio separation is very important because it allows you to record audio separately from video. Hope that helps!
