Review on Smartphone Samsung Galaxy S22 8/128 GB RU, black phantom by Amar Amar ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The product is usable, I expected a bit more.

The "Disadvantages" field is over, but the disadvantages themselves are not. But I will not torment the reader, the key objective disadvantages have indeed already been voiced, but I will add a little more personal, namely the interface. It is less beautiful and comfortable than on the S8. And if the first is a matter of taste, then on the second I will give a hard fact - in the native gallery you can not set up a grid with 6 frames in width - either 4 or 8. But on the S8 it was possible. And yet, on S22, for some reason, stupid frames were added between frames, which only eat up space, and you can’t remove them. Someone will say that these are trifles, but such trifles add up to the overall impression of the device! In terms of perceived quality, the S22 outright loses to the old S8, which is still on par with the top-end iPhone Pro series. For those who haven't owned an S8/S9, this may be hard to believe, but it's true. The way the device is made, this elegant symmetrical metal frame, these unnecessary but beautiful curves of the screen and the back on the sides, the way it lies in the hand, is felt tactile. S22, unfortunately, is cheaper both in look and feel. Just go to a nearby Apple store and compare (not with the regular, but with the Pro series), and believe that the new S8 was no worse, and the wow effect created even more. I address this review first of all to old people like me with S8 / S9 who have been looking for replacements for their phones for a long time, ignoring the latest Samsung lines for asymmetrical frames, and to the Samsung representative office, in the hope that they will pass the information on to the head office, which in a few years will be able to do something as legendary as the S8 again. There is no need to return curved screens, but you need to make a device with the dimensions of an iPhone mini or a little more, significantly reduce the thickness, return the memory card slot and mini-jack, and I have already written about the rest. And no, these are not hot emotions, about a month has passed since the purchase of the S22. Samsung, you could do everything, you just need to remember.

Pros
  • It's pretty hard to find positives, for all my past love for the Samsung Galaxy S8, I'm so disappointed that I can't find a single moment that I really like, overshadow all the shortcomings, and make the device stand out from the competition. Except maybe a limited color option with a graphite back and a matte black frame, which is what I chose. If there wasn't this version, I wouldn't have bought the S22, because the rest look much less pretty and stylish (subjectively). However, perhaps it would be better not to buy, but more on that below.
Cons
  • I will try to place the shortcomings in descending order of importance for me personally: 1) The camera (main) often shoots worse than my five-year-old S8. Sometimes the shots of the S22 turn out better, but this is absolutely not the new level that I was counting on (the phone for me is in many ways a camera). I won't go into details, I took a million comparison shots and analyzed them on the computer, but sometimes the S22 makes such childish mistakes that the S8 never made. And even the clarity of the pictures from the old man is better. 2) The dimensions, which supposedly have become minimal in recent years, are still too huge for me (the version is not +), it is almost impossible to use the phone in the case with one hand, the width and, especially, the thickness, are noticeably larger than my S8, which lies in the hand is almost perfect, although I would like even less, like the iPhone 12/13 mini. The protruding cameras make it impossible to use without a case - it does not even lie flat on the table, and you cannot control it with one finger. 3) Terrible screen. Let many reviewers write laudatory reviews, but I can compare it with the latest iPhone and my old S8. It just doesn’t fit in my head, but the S22 screen is really worse. And so much so that I do not want to use it. First, it is wildly green. The manual setting improved the situation a little, but the S8 and S22 lie next to me, and even on the Always On Display I can see how flawed the white color of the latter is, and how perfect and pleasant it is on the S8. 4) The lack of a slot for a micro-SD card - yes, this was known in advance, but I hoped that there would be no other minuses, and the pluses would outweigh this drawback. And the most annoying thing is that there is no increase in the speed of saving photos / videos! 5) Performance, autonomy - all this is one point, since many have already written, I will not repeat myself. Let me just say that all the last years I thought that it was my old S8 that was buggy and discharged too quickly, but when on a completely clean new S22 I saw interface lags .
