Review on Stanley Proto J5250XL 3/8" Drive Professional Long Handle Pear Head Ratchet, 11 by James Eledge

Exactly what I was looking for

Looks and feels like a reliable, quality tool. The only thing that bothers me is the smooth grip. I really don't understand the industry trend towards smooth, shiny tools. They are difficult to grasp with clean hands. Put some oil or grease on it and it gets worse. It has a pair of knurled rings which is better than most currently but I wish the grip area was fully knurled. The long handle provides extra leverage and the 45-tooth gearing maintains more torque. You'll have to rotate the handle a little further (8 degrees versus 5 degrees between clicks), but I have a fine, short-toothed ratchet for use in tight spaces. This sturdier long handled block complements my other block well and makes a great addition to my tool box. Despite the long handle and bottom gear, it has a narrow head and is suitable for hard-to-reach places. As long as you have a bit more room to turn the crank, it should work fine in tight spaces. Grip, that should be on your short list.
