Best Wood Filler to Match Existing Wood Profile

This product is great when you need to adjust a rotting wood profile. I used it to fix a rotten wood corner of a door that I thought would be impossible to fix without replacing the wood. Unlike some epoxies it has a long working life and is easy to sand, especially Drexel Multi-Max. You can shape it with tools. I actually used a colored pencil and popsicle sticks to match the existing door edges. You need to make sure you mix the two parts well and get a solid brown. If you don't mix well, you won't get good medicine and everything will fall apart. Found this when I first tried using the product. It's expensive compared to other wood fillers, but the ability to work with it really sets it apart. Bondo wood putty works well for filling large areas, but works better on flat surfaces as it sets too quickly and is too soft to work with before it hardens. QuikWood is easy to use and works well for filling holes, but it's much stronger, making it difficult to match the profile. Non-epoxy wood fillers have not given me long-term exterior wood repairs. This material is also of great importance. I've used the same small containers for several repairs. You'll also need to make sure you use a wood hardener for rotten wood (like LiquidWood) to give the epoxy a hard surface to adhere to. When possible, I drive stainless steel screws into the cured rot in the fresh wood underneath, leaving out the screw head and part of the screw to allow the epoxy to adhere better and allow for a stronger repair.
