Nice DVD but disappointing that the old version doesn't actually have an HDMI port

This is our second DVD player for our second child in the car. We love it so I bought another one. However, I thought I could connect an HDMI cable between them, but when I decided to do so, I found that the device I bought a couple of years ago actually doesn't have a connector. The plastic part is where the HDMI cable should be connected. Not sure why you should have a place it should go but not the actual port. Frustrated, unable to connect.
