Vices work well if you can assemble them. It is designed for a 1.5" solid wood countertop with a significant overhang and no spacers underneath. The description mentions it, so my fault. However, the mounting holes on the vise plate are poorly positioned. Only two of the six mounting holes are accessible from below. I had to bolt it on top and grind nuts and washers to install it. Only four fasteners, not six as it should be. It works quite well, but be sure to evaluate the finish and install location before purchasing.
