Review on πŸ” Motorcraft FL-820-S Oil Filter: Top-rated Performance and Superior Filtration by Jessie Burgos

Many trouble free miles

These are the best filters money can buy. I buy and sell Crown Vics. These are old police cars, finding the ones that were in good condition is very important. I noticed that none of the Crown vibrators I tested with a Motorcraft filter had motor problems. I think this is due to the very high quality of these filters. Some of the internals on these filters include all-metal end caps, a fiber bend for the filter media (very good filtration), and most impressively at this price point, a silicone anti-drain check valve. This prevents dry starts and is the main cause of engine wear. Think of dry starting like starting a car after an oil change: the oil pump has to fill the entire oil filter with oil before it gets to the engine. This means that the engine runs without oil for a few seconds. When stationary, cheap oil filter seals allow oil to drip into the oil pan, a silicone valve prevents this. I think that's why Crown Vics with Motorcraft filters last longer than those without them. FYI I currently have a Crown 08 Vic with 143,000 miles on it.
