I had high hopes for these pliers. They meet my expectations for the most part, with the exception of one area. A photo of these tongs is attached next to another pair of red kitchen tongs that I use most often for length comparisons. Let's start with the good: * Sturdy design and quality * Secure grip and loop at the end, handy for those clumsy tongs of S hooks in the kitchen * Neat little handle stand if you don't have a handy spoon rest between uses while cooking * Longer handles to keep hands away from heat source when working with food* Decent price for a two piece set with longer handles My only disappointment: * They didn't open as wide as most standard kitchen tongs (about 1 inch narrower than my other long kitchen tongs) . I like to use them for frying. The longer handle gives me a few extra inches from squirting hot oil. I use it with a small stand so it doesn't hit the sides of the pot. My 1st disappointment is that the cover is not wide enough when fully open. There is a bit of a learning curve as I get used to the longer reach of other long kitchen tongs when grabbing things to flip them in the pan.
