Review on πŸ”§ High-Efficiency Leverage Combination Crimper by Capri Tools by Luke Cotton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Is working. Neat instrument, CoO shady and the finish could be better.

Used to change the wiring in my basement. Overall it works for what I need, which is good, but I have some issues. Firstly, the knives (cutting edges) feel dull, but I haven't had to cut much with this tool either, and as far as I know it can be by design and necessary to cut thicker wires like piano strings, which is what it's designed for. . Second, there are some sharper edges that shouldn't be there, as if the tool wasn't sharpened to its best, and what appears to be small residue from grinding/drilling on the crimp surfaces doesn't affect function. but how much harder and more expensive was it to smooth out those edges? After all, the instrument itself says "Forged in Japan" while the packaging says "Made in Taiwan". Now I'm not the biggest supporter of CoO and Taiwanese instruments are great for my book, but why would anyone feel the need to lie about it? I understand that there are real CoO nerds out there, but I guarantee you these people are not buying Capri instruments, they just seem very unnecessary. Probably great for DIY, professional twins could do better with something else.

Pros
  • Wire cutters
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
