This head is inexpensive and can handle very heavy lenses. I've been using this head for 2 years with a Canon 600mm f4. The lens seems stable and secure when installed. The head is fairly durable: I've used it in extreme conditions (Alaska in the winter, Florida in the summer) and it's regularly hit in the trunk of a car. Despite this, it looks and functions exactly as it did when new. The only major complaint I have is trying to carry a tripod (with lens attached) on my shoulder while walking. Even when the handle is fully tightened, the swing arm moves. This allows you to change the angle of rotation of the hand while walking. To counteract this, I use two ratchet straps (seen in the photos) to hold the swing arm securely in place when I'm carrying it over my shoulder. When I arrive at my destination, I unbuckle the straps and use them as usual. It's an inexpensive head, so I feel good about having to bypass that hassle. I should also mention that I have a genuine Arca Swiss baseplate so I cannot comment on the quality of the baseplate that comes with the head. Overall I would recommend it to any budget conscious large lens user.
