Use a few proven techniques and you'll love the results!

We just bought a Cadillac coupe and put E&G custom wire mesh gills on the top and bottom of the car and it looks fantastic! Caddy standing between the license plate. After reading the reviews and gaining a lot of experience in the film industry with backdrops, I decided to give it a try. The first and most important thing I did was clean thoroughly and fill in any minimal holes in the paint. (ALL WAX) remove! I started with paint thinner, switched to alcohol and then rinsed with (hot) soapy water and rinsed with hot water for 3 or 4 minutes. Remove all dust with a paint rag (available on Amazon) or your local motor and hardware store.2. The next step was to prepare the chrome vinyl by measuring and cutting a fixed length and the correct height. After that I measured to the middle and cut out a vertical piece of the backing by bending and separating the backing and also cutting 1/2 of the vertical strip out of it. This left me with an open glue area for centering and positioning and pre-gluing the chrome vinyl (useful trick)! 3. I placed the chrome on this area and pressed down firmly on the backing that was glued in the middle so it would stick and stay in place. Check the overall alignment and make sure you place it over the entire area to see if it covers the intersections in the final details. emphasized the vinyl) as I also used a large 6" felt-lined vinyl tool to smooth out the chrome and remove any air bubbles. The trick is to do this on a warm, sunny day and not stretch the foil as you work. 4. After doing the left side, I repeated the step on the right side. Do not remove the protective clear coat while working on these steps. Now here is a very secret step to make it look like factory chrome. Mix a spray can with warm water and add 1/2 to 1 ounce of dish soap to a 16-ounce bottle. Spray the soap solution onto the chrome with the protective layer still attached. Make sure the surface is as soapy and smooth as possible as this will add a lot of smoothness. slide while using the flexible vinyl forming tool to press the chrome vinyl into place. This gives you a better view of the seal on the adhesive side. Rinse with clear water and dry for 30 minutes. Now carefully use a paring knife with a very sharp point. Find a spot in the corner where you can gently peel and remove the protective cover. Now for the results! Looks like it was built into the body of a Cadillac! Looks 100% factory and just as shiny as the other chrome (genuine) parts on the front. If you want a professional film company to apply a protective film to chrome, now you have something that will further protect its plating. Final Thoughts. Hope that helps. What about negative reviews for this product? They don't know how to use vinyl and shouldn't even try. Try it on a small piece of something and you'll love the method I just told you about. It takes practice and patience to know the steps necessary to keep it looking good and keeping its appearance for years to come. I'll add some photos when we get another sunny day here in the Northwest. Hooray!
