Review on Filtrete 15x24x1 Room AC Filter (9808) - Enhanced for Better SEO by Alan Massey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I made a replacement filter for the air purifier.

I use Holmes cleaner for my room because of allergies and dust. My bedroom window is at ground level, so leaving it open lets more dust into my room than usual. I was tired of spending $15 on filters that were supposed to fit the unit but never made a good seal due to poor quality control and design. So I found out how difficult it would be to make my own. Well it was damn easy. I bought a cutout to fit the foam pre-filter. I bought this Filtrete filter to match the filter. The filtrete placed on the styrofoam, both cut to size, just thin strips of duck tape placed around the edges and inserted into the inlet. Works much better than expensive filters. It was a lot cheaper because the large sheets cut to size lasted about a year if changed every few months as instructed. I only gave it 4 stars because there are some areas on the filter that are "thinner" as they don't have as much filter material woven in. Therefore, some small portions are thrown away for this reason. $8 for this Filtrete, $1 at Walmart for a foam pre-filter. So for $9 plus some tape I had lying around, I have a year's spare. Note that these cut filtretes appear to be long fiberglass strands that are lightly woven together to form a very thin layer of lightweight fabric, hence the foam at the back so none of the loose strands come out through the vent. Good buy in my book.
